I would be better for you to start in a specific plant you are interested in. There are many web sites and blogs of people's gardening experience. A good place to start is to learn the difference between Annual, Biannual, and Perennial.

There are herbs that are used for medical reasons and for culinary uses. For example Mondra (also called Bee Balm) is used as a diuretic. Fever Few is a herb, but it is not really used for fevers. It is used for head acke's.

Check out your dolor stores. There are garden videos for next to nothing prices. Example: I found gardening videos at the every thing is one dolor store that gave me a lot of info on gardening.

Check out freeplants.com for a lot of garden information. Even how to clone plants. I have a site that shows some cloning info.

Also check with your local Cornell cooperative extension. Most give out free info on plants. Check with your local vocational center to see what is available in the field you are interested in. If there is a price tag with the training, check with your local employment office to see if there is funding available for the training you desire.

Good Luck. You may be on a great adventure.
