You should fertilize your lawn 4-5 times per year, waiting 2 months between feedings. You should fertilize trees and shrubs twice a year (spring and fall). Flowers can be fertilized one of two ways. Either the water soluble mix by miracle gro, which provides a 14 day feeding, or you can buy Miracle Gro shake n’ feed plant food, which fertilizes for 3 months. I have worked for miracle gro for over 2 years.

Fall is the best time to fertilize, especially for new plantings.
You need to have your soil tested to be certain of the appropriate type of fertilizer need. Cool-growing grasses need less nitrogen (the 1st # in fertilizer, 5-10-10) Grasses that grow best in the warmth of summer need more Nitrogen.
Also, keep the soil aerated and well watered through the winter. Trees and shrubs may look dormant on the outside, but deep inside they are still preparing to be reborn! Don’t forget that spring feeding though!

Phophorus can be applied in winter for stimulating root growing ( roots continue to grow in winter). Potasium and nirogen can be supply spring ( vegetation period starts).

You should fertilize them once per month but in the growing season which is spring and summer.
